On
Tuesday SpaceX sent up a Starship forerunner from its grounds in Boca
Chica, Texas. The craft blew up on landing. This is not the first time
something like this has happened lately. Another forerunner of a
starship crashed in December.
It so happens that Musk's December flight was not greenlit by the
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), a US arecker for flying things.
When SpaceX set up shop in Boca Chica, they said they would be sending
up Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy starships from there. But instead, the
business has been making and sending up bigger starships than they
first said. After talking it through, the FAA gave the go-ahead for
Tuesday's liftoff.
On Twitter last week, the starter of SpaceX, went after the FAA, saying
that “Their laws are meant for a handful of one-time liftoffs a
year from a few leedward grounds. Under those laws, mankind will never
get to Mars.”
Musk is not fond of arecking. He said he went to Texas with hopes of getting out from under areckings in other riches.
