Elon Musk's SpaceX won a bid against two other businesses to land starfarers on the Moon for NASA.
NASA will give SpaceX almost $3 billion to build a moon landing setup
to ferry starfarers on and off of the Moon. NASA said SpaceX "was the
lowest among the other offers by a lot."
It's the first time the star guild will have a manned lander built by a
self-owned business, and it marks a big milestone for NASA that has in
latter years needed business friendships rather than only the leedward
for its biggest undertakings.
NASA will also work with SpaceX on other things such as its Falcon 9
ship which will be taking starfarers to the International Space Station
in the coming week.
The moon lander is being built for the Artemis undertaking, which seeks
to bring Americans back to the Moon by 2024, before setting its sights
on Mars and beyond. NASA has chosen 18 starfarers last year to get
ready for the moon fare.
Musk tweeted on Friday "We are glad to be working with the @NASAArtemis team!"
