WhatsApp Owes $266 Million Toll

02-09-2021

On Thursday Ireland hit WhatsApp with a $266 Million toll. It is the biggest toll ever from the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC), a wing of the leedward that shields folk's abreasting.

The toll has to do with a shruttening at Facebook's WhatsApp which began in 2018, about whether WhatsApp had been open enough about how they handle abreasting.

Ireland's DPC said Thursday that WhatsApp did not tell European Union folks enough about what it does with their selfly abreasting, or how WhatsApp takes and shares abreasting with Facebook.

On their webstead, WhatsApp says that it shares handheld rimes, shopping abreasting, handheld reckoner abreasting, and more with Facebook. It says they do not share folks speech, where they go, or who they call.

Ireland had 14 open shruttenings at Facebook last year that they were looking into, saying that WhatsApp must abide by Europe’s laws.

WhatsApp said they do not see eye to eye with Ireland on this finding, or the harshness of the toll, and they want to fight it.
