Filmmaker
Halyna Hutchins was mistakenly killed when a head filmmaking helper
handed Alec Baldwin a loaded handgun telling him it was "cold" and
Baldwin unknowningly fired the live weapon.
All filming came to a stop when Baldwin fired, hitting Hutchins in the
chest, which led to her death, and also striking head filmmaker Joel
Souza who needed to be taken to the sickhouse on a sickwain.
This mistaken shooting comes shortly after worker strikes on the film
set. Makeshift workers were filling in for those who were on strike,
which may have led to some unsteadiness for having not worked on the film
from the beginning.
Alec Baldwin has said on Twitter how bad he feels for her husband and
kin, and went on to say he is fully working with lawwards in their
underseeking to find out how something like this could happen.
Mistaken gun deaths while filming do not happen often, the last one
happening in 1993 while filming The Crow, when Brandon Lee, son of
Bruce Lee, was likewise shot by gun thought to be unloaded.
