Last
night, Israel called for folks living in the north of Gaza to flee to
the south within the next 24 stounds. Seemingly, this means that Israel
will be striking northern Gaza soon, and if anyone is still there, they
could be killed.
Israel said for anyone who isn't a fighter living in Gaza City, to go
further south than Wadi Gaza, and not to come back until they are told
that they can. In answer, Hamas told everyone to stay where they were
and that the calls to flee were only mind games.
Since the fight between Israel and Hamas began on October 7th,
thousands of folks have been killed and many more wounded. It is not
only fighters who are dying, many bystanders and even children have
been harmed or killed as well.
The UN says that getting everyone out of northern Gaza in such a short
time can not be done without great harm to the folks living there.
Given that Gaza shares its southern edge with Egypt, the US is in
talks with Egypt to see about letting folks flee there to get away from
the fighting.
