Big Wave Warning In Japan

01-01-2024

Early this morning, the west shore of Japan was hit by a strength 7.5 earthquake. Right away, a warning was broadcasted, telling folks to flee to higher ground, as the quake likely made big waves.

Before the big quake, there was a strength 5.5 foreshock, and not long after the main quake, there was a strength 6.2 aftershock. Altogether at least 50 houses fell in on themselves, and tens of thousands of homes lost their lights. So far there are 3 known deaths, and nearly 100 folks wounded.

Broadcasters said the earthquake could have made waves up to 16 feet high. However since the first warning was put out, it has now been lowered to a lesser wave warning. Notwithstanding, everyone is still readying themselves for the worst, with even South Korea warning about rising water heights.

This is not the first time Japan has dealt with big earthquakes and flooding. One of the worst was in 2011 when a strength 9.1 earthquake on Japan's eastern shore led to widespread flooding that killed nearly 20 thousand folks.
