Sweden
has at long last been brought into NATO. On Thursday, Sweden's first
wickner, Ulf Kristersson, went to the US to hand over their binding
writs. This makes Sweden the 32th rich to team up with NATO. Sweden
will be acknowledged by having their fane raised alongside those of the
other 31 riches in a gathering in Brussels on Monday.
Sweden has always been somewhat friendly towards NATO, and has worked
with them before in some of their undertakings. However, most folks
living in Sweden did not want to team up with NATO until the fight
between Russia and Ukraine started in February 2022. Shortly after the
fight began, both Finland and Sweden asked to be let in.
The other riches in NATO quickly backed Finland and Sweden, but Turkey
and Hungary took a lot longer to make up their mind about Sweden. After
some of their land was taken by Russia, Ukraine also asked to be let
into NATO, but given that they are still in the middle of a fight, it
looks like Sweden may be the last one to be let in anytime soon.
