On
Wednesday, the US House of Spokesmen gave the goahead for a law draft
that would ban TikTok from running their software in the US, or make
them sell it to a US business, so that the US leedward can have more
oversight on TikTok.
This is not the first fanded banning of TikTok. In 2020, the US Heer
and the US Fleet banned TikTok on harfolk reckoners. The worry is owing
to TikTok being owned by the Chinish business, ByteDance, and that they
could be sharing knowledge of TikTokers with the Chinish leedward.
This law will stay a draft until it gets through the US Redegift and
Foresitter. Though, Foresitter Biden has already said that if it comes
to him he will make it law. If the redesmen and foresitter do give this
law the goahead, then ByteDance will have to sell TikTok or shut it
down.
Naysayers of this law draft have brought up worries about free speech
rights being broken. The head of TikTok, Shou Zi Chew, has also spoken
out against the law, but has not said whether China has any sway over
TikTok.
