Well known film star, Shelley Duvall, died in her sleep yesterday at her home in Blanco, Texas. She was 75 years old, and her death was likely owing to the ongoing illnesses she was dealing with.

Duvall was born in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1949 to Bobbie Ruth Crawford and Robert Duvall (not linked with the showplayer by the same name). She lived in sundry Texas towns throughout her childhood, but after high school, she went to LA to work in makeup.

Her showplaying work began when she met the filmmaker Robert Altman, and she played in his 1970 film Brewster McCloud. After that, she made a name for herself owing to her seldseen looks and went on to play in many more films.

She is most well known for her playing of Wendy Torrance in Stanley Kubrick's dread film The Shining. But also loved for her playing of Millie Lammoreaux in the 1977 film 3 Women and Olive Oyl in the 1980 film Popeye. In her later years, she mostly stepped away from showplaying, but her likeness will live on in her many earlier works.
