After
much talk, Honda and Nissan have chosen to become one business. Two of
Japan's biggest wainmaking businesses broadcasted this week that they
would team together as one business, with Honda taking the lead and
helping Nissan to keep their doors open.
Nissan was struggling to make ends meet with their income. Having the
backing of Honda going forward will give them the wealth needed to keep
afloat. Meanwhile, this onboarding of Nissan's ready-to-go tools and
workshops will give Honda a quick spurt of growth.
Mitsubishi had already been working with Nissan before this, so now
that all three wainmakers are working together, they might have the
wherewithal to keep up with Toyota, Japan's biggest wainmaker by wains
built and worldwide sales.
This team-up comes amid rising worries in Japan about the growing
strength of China's wainmakers, like the rich-owned SAIC. While Japan
is still ahead of China in overseas wain sales, China is not far behind
and is well ahead of them on overall wains built each year.
