Five
years since it was burned down, the Notre Dame highchurch will be
opening back up this coming weekend. The fire happened in the evening
of April 15th, 2019. Workers at the highchurch heard the smoke warnings
go off and sent someone to see why, but they did not find the fire or
call for help right away.
Firefighters were not called until the fire had been burning for almost
half a stound. Having burned so long without being stopped, the fire
had eaten most of the roof and beams holding it up. Building Notre Dame
back had to be done with great care. Older trees were chosen from
France's wilderness so that they would be big enough to make beams out
of.
While the highchurch is set to be fully open on December 7th, Emmanuel
Macron, the foresitter of France, went to look at Notre Dame on Friday
to see all of the hard work that went into righting what was harmed by
the fire. Still, nobody knows what truly started the fire, but it is
thought to have been owed to makeover work that was ongoing at the time.
