Mighty
7.7 and 6.6 strength earthquakes struck southern Panama on Friday,
shaking buildings throughout the rich and sending frightened folks
fleeing into the streets. The middle of the quake was near the small
town of Pitaloza Arriba, about 100 miles from Panama City.
The quakes harmed many buildings, but the Panama Waterway is still up
and running. There are said to be at least 27 folks wounded, but so
far, no deaths have been broadcast. Hundreds of smaller aftershakes
have been felt, keeping worries high.
Panama sits near a few splits in the earth's skin where groundly boards
are sliding against each other. These shifts make earthquakes happen
pretty often, but seldom are they this strong. The last 7.7 strength
quake to hit Panama was in 1934.
In answer to the back-to-back earthquakes, the leedward of Panama
called it a theedplight, so as to get quicker and better help to those
in need. The US offered $5 twofoldthousand in help, as well as sent
wickners to help look over the harm and begin edbuilding.
